Tips:
while being
slow in old gel apparatus, you can still use some tricks to increase the
speed of gel electrophoresis easily as shown below:

Minimize
buffer volume - Do not over fill your gel tank with too much running
buffer. Over filled running buffer reduces the parameter of V/CM in
your electrophoresis and reduce sample migration rate. As a rule,
add running buffer only about 1mm over gel surface. You should be
able to see some agarose around wells over the running buffer.

Making
your buffer working solution to 0.8x instead of 1x.

Increase
voltage of gel electrophoresis to 10-20V higher than your old
setting when the first 1 and 2 steps are done.
