Electrophoresis of PCR products

The last step in PCR process is a gel electrophoresis to visualize PCR products. In practice, PCR products are usually very short because PCR primers are designed very close to each other to ensure PCR reaction being more reliable and repeatable. Electrophoresis of short PCR products requires high concentration of agarose gel, in a range of 2 - 4% agarose powder.

From time to time, the number of PCR samples varies significantly. Electrophoresis of PCR products in a few samples will waste over 50% agarose gel.
