etc. For those electrophoresis applications, two main kinds of electrophoresis
systems are utilized, horizontal gel system and vertical gel system.
In horizontal gel
system for electrophoresis applications of DNA RNA analysis, an agarose gel is
immersed under running buffer. Samples are applied into sample wells. Then an
electric field is applied to the agarose gel for causing electrophoresis of
sample molecules.
In vertical gel system
for electrophoresis applications of protein analysis, a polyacrylamide gel is
formed between a pair of glasses. Protein samples run through the gel and form
distinguishable bands after electrophoresis according to their molecule sizes.
