EDTA 0.5M Stock solution

EDTA= Ethylenediamine tetra acetic acid

 Na₂ EDTA 2 H₂O, MW 372.24, is the chemical for preparing 0.5M EDTA stock.

1. Stir vigorously on magnetic stirrer. You will need about 10 g NaOH pellets. This step takes some time.

2. Add NaOH pellets gradually to avoid over dose of NaOH. The EDTA powder does not go into solution before enough NaOH pellets being added. 

3. Adjust volume to 480 ml with ddH₂O. 

4. Adjust ph to 8.0, 

5. Bring the final volume to 500ml. 

The EDTA solution is stable for long-term storage at room temperature.
